Antichrist

So, last year there were news about Cannes, that the film by Charlie Kaufman "Synecdoche, New York" was a failure and people laughed and booed to it at the festival. As we later found out - the film is a great piece of American cinema and an important work.

This year similar news was released through out the world about Lars Von Triers Antichrist. Supposedly people booed, walked out and laughed to his new film, and called it naive and stupid, overly violent...stuff like that. WELL, as I thought, this film too, turned out to be an amazing masterpiece, even more so than Synecdoche, although I am not comparing them in any other sense than by the way they were supposedly received at Cannes.

Now, my poin is that 1. Do not believe the newspapers writings about a film. Just do no t believe it. 2. Should we come up with a new respected film festival, if Cannes constantly neglects important films like these 2? Although the films that win are always nice films too..3. We should revive the culture that people actually go to see a film not to be entertained, but to experience. 4. We should react to the way so called "high culture" especially important films are treated in the media. It seems that film no longer can be considered as art, but it is always seen first through the screen of entertainment and after this quality, it might have a message which seems to be secondary.
5. Go see this film, you wont forget it:
